The story is called SHIFT.

A young man must face the long drive back to Eastern Canada after his dreams of ‘making it’ in the big city come crashing down around him. Ryan, totally defeated, encounters a manipulative hitchhiker who is the physical embodiment of Ryan’s fears of failure. The two hesitantly swap stories while testing each other’s emotional and psychological limits in the confines of an old station wagon. Before long, Ryan finds he must confront not only his dangerous passenger but his own problems as well.
